Meet the founders

Shared vision. Complementary expertise.

Emplan Limited was founded by Mustafa Zoeb and Ravi Pattni, who met in 2012. Both brought extensive international experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, and together saw the opportunity to elevate East African engineering to new standards.

Driven by a shared passion for solving complex challenges and a commitment to innovation, Mustafa and Ravi established Emplan to meet international benchmarks while providing solutions tailored to the region's unique needs. Their combined expertise and vision continue to raise the bar for engineering excellence across East Africa.

Mustafa Zoeb Attarwalla, co-founder of Emplan Limited

Co-founder & Director - Mechanical Engineer

Mustafa Zoeb Attarwalla

Mustafa holds a Master's degree in Building Services Engineering with Sustainable Energy from Brunel University London and brings 15 years of construction-industry experience across HVAC, fire suppression, public health, plumbing and coordinated building services.

His international outlook was shaped in Asia while working in research and development for Toshiba Elevators in Malaysia. Exposure to rigorous product development, construction quality and manufacturing discipline continues to inform the standards he expects from design, documentation, installation and commissioning in East Africa.

Mustafa continually looks to more developed construction markets to learn from the technologies, products, standards and building systems they use. His working motto is constantly learn, constantly improve: evaluate what is proven and relevant, adapt it to East African conditions and use that knowledge to help local clients achieve more reliable, efficient and maintainable buildings.

His approach to sustainability recognises that East Africa needs solutions grounded in its own climate, utilities, affordability and maintenance realities. Passive design, efficient systems, water stewardship, measurable operational performance and practical local implementation matter as much as a certificate.

He advocates BIM and digital coordination not as presentation tools, but as ways to expose risk early, protect architectural intent and improve construction accuracy. His postgraduate research examines the real effect of EDGE and LEED certification on energy and water performance in Kenyan high-rise commercial buildings.
